The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitalii Koval, recently held a meeting with pulse producers and processors, including key industry leaders and Antonina Sklyarenko, President of the Community of Pulse Producers and Consumers of Ukraine (CPPCU). The meeting focused on addressing systemic issues and exploring new development opportunities for the production and processing of pulses.

Vitalii Koval emphasized the essential role of specialized associations in establishing an effective dialogue between the government and the agribusiness sector, underscoring that future issues affecting producers will be managed through association-based requests to the ministry. This approach, grounded in European practices, aims to create a transparent communication framework where associations serve as the primary voice of the industry.

The meeting highlighted several priority areas:

  • European integration
  • Support for front-line areas
  • Development of advanced processing of agricultural products
  • Opening new markets
  • Expanding export opportunities to third-country markets

As President of CPPCU, Antonina Sklyarenko stressed the importance of industry consolidation. According to her, effective collaboration with government bodies opens new avenues for promoting Ukrainian agricultural products on the global market.

“We must actively target the markets of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, as we see substantial potential for our pulses in these regions. We do not want Ukrainian pulses to settle in Poland — they should go further to reach end consumers worldwide. The minister has supported our goals and emphasized the importance of opening new markets and expanding our presence in third countries,” Sklyarenko said.

Thanks to CPPCU's support, industry players gain access to the latest data, assistance in market expansion, and processing consultations, all of which boost the competitiveness of Ukrainian products in the global market. Additionally, the meeting stressed the importance of developing advanced processing capacities to increase the value of agricultural products and create new jobs.

CPPCU invites pulse producers and processors to join the association, gaining access to efficient communication with the government and valuable resources that support business growth and advance the interests of agribusiness at the highest level.
