On October 29, 2025, the Government of India officially introduced a 30% import duty on yellow pea imports and published the notification in The Gazette of India. According to the document, the duty takes effect on November 1, effectively abolishing the zero-duty regime that had previously applied to Ukrainian exporters of yellow peas to India.
For Ukrainian pea producers, this may mean a temporary reduction in one of their key export markets. At the same time, the situation is expected to encourage expanded cooperation with other countries, primarily Turkey.
“We have already seen similar changes in India’s import policy more than once. Ukrainian producers know how to adapt quickly and find new markets. Global demand for plant protein continues to grow, and Ukraine has every reason to remain a reliable supplier of high-quality pulses,”

According to her, India and Turkey are the two largest importers of Ukrainian peas, with shipment volumes to both countries being almost equal. To strengthen cooperation with key partners, the Ukraine Pulse and Soybean Association, together with APK-Inform, is organizing AgroFoodSummit 2025, which will take place on November 19–21 in Mersin, Turkey. The event will bring together representatives of agribusiness not only from Ukraine and Turkey but also from 27 other countries.
