Over the past few years, the soybean segment in Ukraine has remained one of the most promising and has shown steady growth in all areas - from gross harvest to processing and exports. This season is no exception.
Thus, in 2024, soybean acreage in the country increased by more than 30% to a record 2.6 mln ha, and the gross harvest in Ukraine exceeded 6 mln tonnes for the first time, amounting to 6.1-6.2 mln tonnes, which is one of the highest in Europe.
According to APK-Inform, the export potential of Ukrainian soybeans in 2024/25 MY may reach the record level for the industry, amounting to about 3.5-3.6 mln tonnes (+9% compared to 2023/24 MY), including the processing, which in 2024/25 MY may update the historical record to 2.25 mln tonnes (+14% compared to 2023/24 MY).
However, such rather optimistic forecasts are currently offset by the global growth of soybean production and processing, which Ukrainian companies are already experiencing.
In order to discuss the main challenges that the soybean segment may face in the second half of the current and next seasons, APK-Inform in partnership with the NGO “Community of producers and consumers of pulses of Ukraine” (CPCU) announces the conference “Soybean and Meal market”, which will be held on March 27 in Kyiv.
The Soybean and Meal market conference will be an effective discussion platform to discuss the plans of agricultural producers regarding priorities for the 2025 sowing campaign, current issues and forecasts for further development of the situation in the soybean sector, as well as prospects for the 2025/26 season.
Main topics and key issues of the conference:
- Prospects of soybean production in Ukraine in 2025: why we are not likely to get a new record?
- Agricultural season: exporters vs processors
- The second wave of soybean processing growth: price trends, factors of influence and main risks of the domestic sector
- Export of Ukrainian soybeans: growing potential and new opportunities
- EUDR regulations in the EU in focus: what is changing for Ukrainian producers and exporters
