Turkey is rapidly strengthening its position in the global food market. Over the past five years, the country's agricultural exports have grown by an average of 12% annually, reaching $31.4 billion in 2024. At the same time, Turkey remains a significant importer, with annual agricultural imports averaging $22.7 billion.

Ukraine has made a substantial contribution to this dynamic. By the end of 2024, our country ranked among the top three suppliers of agricultural products to Turkey, accounting for 8.4% of Turkish imports with a total value of $1.97 billion.

Key Ukrainian products in steady demand on the Turkish market:

  • Soybeans

  • Sunflower oil

  • Pulses (in 2024 alone, exports doubled to $45.8 million)

  • Corn

  • Wheat

Why Turkey?

Turkey not only imports agricultural products but also processes them into high-quality goods for global markets. Notably, Turkish producers account for 20% of global wheat flour exports.

Moreover, Turkey is a key hub in global logistics:

  • Over 500 million tons of cargo pass through its ports annually

  • The Port of Mersin is among the largest in the region

  • Kazakhstan considers Mersin a key base for developing the Trans-Caspian route

It is in Mersin that the AgroFood Summit 2025 will take place on November 19–21, where we will delve into the prospects of global grain, pulse, and oil markets, as well as trends in global logistics.
