On 20 November 2025, during the international AgroFoodSummit 2025 held in Mersin, Türkiye, the Ukraine Pulse&Soybean Association (UPSA) and the India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at expanding cooperation in the production, promotion, and trade of pulse crops.
The document establishes a framework for joint actions in key areas such as knowledge exchange, research initiatives, promotion of pulse consumption, and the development of inter-organizational communication between the two countries.
The memorandum was signed by Antonina Sklyarenko, President of UPSA, and Bimal Kothari, Chair of IPGA. According to the agreement, Antonina Sklyarenko has been designated as the primary coordinator of cooperation on the Ukrainian side.
“Ukraine has already proven itself as a reliable supplier of peas to India. Now we are moving to a new level — with deeper coordination, analytical exchange, and joint events. We expect strengthened sectoral ties, the development of joint initiatives, and broader presence of Ukrainian pulses on the Indian market,” noted Antonina Sklyarenko.
Her remarks were supported by the head of the Indian association, who confirmed IPGA’s interest in scaling up cooperation.
“Signing this memorandum with the Ukrainian association will facilitate the promotion of trade and the establishment of broader business ties between India and Ukraine. We see significant opportunities for fruitful collaboration. We anticipate an increase in supplies of yellow peas and other pulses from Ukraine,” said Bimal Kothari, Chair of IPGA.
The signing of this memorandum opens new prospects for mutually beneficial growth in trade, innovation, and partnership in the pulse sector between Ukraine and India.
