The Ukraine Pulse and Soybean Association (UPSA), in cooperation with the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, promptly unblocked Ukrainian pea exports to Nepal by removing procedural barriers that had caused shipment delays.

The delay was caused by the need for additional document clearance within the framework of the Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) procedure conducted by Nepal’s competent authority. This effectively put the timely issuance of import permits and the fulfillment of contractual obligations by Ukrainian exporters at risk.

To resolve the situation, UPSA appealed to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection with a request to ensure the necessary official communication with the Nepalese side. The issue was resolved within a short timeframe, allowing the uninterrupted processing of shipments to resume.

“In 2026, we have observed a revival in Ukrainian pea exports to Nepal. This is a promising market that has offered Ukrainian exporters competitive terms and attractive pricing conditions. Therefore, the prompt removal of any procedural barriers is of fundamental importance for maintaining supply stability. We are grateful to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection for its swift handling of our request and constructive cooperation,” said Antonina Skliarenko, President of the Ukraine Pulse and Soybean Association.

UPSA also expresses its special gratitude to Serhii Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection; Vadym Chaikovskyi, Deputy Head of the Service and Chief State Phytosanitary Inspector of Ukraine; and Andrii Chelombitko, Director of the Department of Phytosanitary Safety and Crop Production Control, for the effective coordination of the process and the prompt resolution of the issue.

“The prompt resolution of such matters is an important part of the Association’s work to protect the interests of market participants and ensure stable access of Ukrainian products to foreign markets,” Antonina Skliarenko emphasized.
